The "Pantongang" (Panton Corridor) at the University Hospital Basel, originally designed in 1978 by Danish designer Verner Panton

The "Pantongang" had to make way for the construction of the new Clinic 2 building. In order to preserve this significant work of art, it was reconstructed at a new location.
The reconstruction is based on Panton's original plans and, for the first time, also incorporates the floor design as envisioned by the designer. Due to the shorter length of the new corridor, the color and pattern sequences were adjusted to stay as close as possible to the original.
The newly reconstructed Pantongang at the University Hospital Basel is distinguished by carefully designed lighting that highlights the vibrant colors and geometric shapes of Verner Panton's original design and its adaptation.
All luminaires feature tunable white light engines, with colour temperatures carefully balanced to the colours in the space.

Adaptation and planning of the new spatial situation: Studio Emyl in collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG
