Church Treasury 2022
The listed Baden Church Treasury ranks among the most significant of its kind.
The Church Treasury Museum is located in the baroque chapter hall of the Gothic church dating from 1458. The listed Baden church treasury ranks among the most significant of its kind in the canton of Aargau and has been presented in an exhibition in the former chapter hall since the late 1960s. Commissioned by the Catholic parish of Baden, the imRaum studio realized a new staging as well as a spatial expansion of this unique collection spanning around 600 years of church history.
The precious exhibits include processional and altar crosses, the silver, ornately gilded tower monstrance from 1477, chest and hip reliquaries, embossed statuettes, altar candlesticks, chalices with patens, as well as an extensive collection of liturgical vestments. These paraments are protected by the cantonal heritage conservation authority.
The lighting design is synchronized with the media staging, interactively accessible via a standalone DALI control system. Thanks to conservation-optimized lighting, light-sensitive original exhibits can be viewed barrier-free and in faithful detail.
