The Age of Caol 2018

From the tiniest particle of coal dust to a steel block weighing several tonnes, from a crumpled slip of paper to a life-size portrait painting, from a living fish to a petrified tree — the objects assembled by the curators reveal the full spectrum of materiality. This alone gives rise to compelling and often surprising impressions and connections.
The lighting design brings the individual object arrangements into an aesthetic relationship, drawing out their sensory and above all visual potential. Through close dialogue among all those involved, a distinctive place has been created — one that recalls the past and invites questions about the future.
