The new building on the Campus Rosenthal in Basel brings together the public and school dental clinics as well as the university dental training programme under one roof.

The spatial programme includes patient rooms, operating theatres, X-ray and laboratory rooms, a cafeteria, offices, lecture halls and a library.
The lighting design called for the most varied quality requirements to be unified within a compact and consistent luminaire programme. The highest standards were required for the patient rooms and operating theatres, demanding daylight-equivalent colour rendering, colour temperature and light levels. At the same time, great attention was paid to the atmosphere of the social and circulation zones, where informal exchange and interaction are actively encouraged.
